1930s Jazz Orchestra Lamp - Marvelous Musician Music Novelty Scene 30s 40s Art Deco - Pastel Pink Blue Yellow Ceramic & Asian Wood Base

$ 395.00

Terrific Art Deco table lamp depicting abstract musicians in a marvelous 1930s scene, with orchestra players & instruments including a violin, trombone, bass drum, saxophone, piano... there's even a conductor! This unique lamp is crammed full of music makers with bespectacled faces "behind" the foreground players in a hand-painted avant garde effect on glazed ceramic. It's an open ceramic piece, see-through with cutwork areas throughout, and has a dark carved wood base in Asian style. Authentic to the 30s or early 40s with an Art Deco Modern look. Predominant colors are pastel pink, canary yellow, sky blue, cornflower blue... colors popular in fashion & decor around 1940.

Condition is very good, close to excellent, with its original finial, socket, and cord. Has a straight-slot screw at base of socket, and a non-standard hex nut on underside of base (all six sides are not symmetric). Small rectangular sticker seen on top curved ceramic edge is unreadable and beige. Mild fine crazing throughout with burnishing to some areas of metal, and beige toning to ceramic and finial. Violinist and nearby pianist has a smattering of jade green speckles throughout (see photo) that looks like a factory flaw. Has two old repaired triangular shapes (each 1-inch long) at foot of ceramic piece with dark brown glue along edges.

Measures a total of 23 1/2 x 7 1/4 x 7 1/4 inches (including height of harp and finial) and has a nearly 7-foot cord. Working condition (see last photo for the lit-up bulbs), though we recommend testing with an electrician for safety as it's a used lamp. Ships without bulb to avoid breakage.
