Large Shaggy Rug - 4x6 - Kilim Look 60s Handwoven Rya Style Carpet - 1960s - Possibly Peruvian - Goat Hair - Hand Loomed - 4.58 x 6.84 Feet

$ 350.00

Fantastic 1960s earthy hand-woven area rug in a great modernist pattern! This shaggy diamond pattern carpet is dense, thick, coarse hair with a slightly wavy texture and natural wispy fringe to the ends.

It has the shaggy surface of a Turkish Tulu rug, the Scandinavian geometrics of a rya rug, and bold coloring similar to a kilim. Our best guess, however, is that this rug is South American in origin, possibly Peruvian alpaca, though its hair fiber feels closest to goat. The textured furry surface is the same to front and back with an identical pattern, so it's possible to reverse it.

Measures 82 inches x 55 inches (equivalent to 4.58 x 6.84 feet). It's heavy and pliable, about 1/4 to 3/8 inches thick. Could be used as a bed cover, a wall covering, or over the back of a sofa, but it's too thick to use as a throw or blanket.

No label of any kind.

Condition is excellent, looks, feels and smells good, with no flaws.
