Cherries Antique Linens - Society Silk Embroidered Victorian Centerpiece - Art Nouveau Round Doily Style - Botanical Red Cherry Embroidery

$ 39.99

Cherries embroidered on Victorian cotton centerpiece... a piece of exquisite craftsmanship from the late 1800s to early 1900s. This beautifully executed cherry motif circle was made of Society embroidered silk, a popular and meticulous craft that used silk embroidery to create realistic fruits and flowers. Has hints of the Art Nouveau and the Arts & Crafts era, carefully made with satin-stitch cherries, twining branches, lattice work, and a padded blanket stitch border of lilting scallops.

This piece measures 16.5 x 19.75 inches. Condition is good, close to fair. Has four threadbare holes each 1/8 to 1/4 inches, and a 2 x 1-inch brown mark half hidden by the lattice pattern, between the latticework and the cherries.
