Size 8 Antique Faux Fur Coat - Black 1900s Edwardian Jacket - Full Sleeves & Standing Collar - Full Flared Skirt - Steampunk Goth - Bust 35

$ 209.99

This picturesque Edwardian jacket is such an intriguing find! It's a plush black faux fur coat that's antique, one of earliest faux furs we've ever seen. It's a hip-length winter coat in a nip-waisted tailored silhouette, standing collar with velveteen lapel, and warm tall cuffs to the full sleeves. The wasp-waisted shape is a gorgeous turn-of-century design with narrow shoulders and redingote style flared skirt with a center back vent. Unlined with thorough cotton sateen binding to the interior seams.

Condition Detail
A few mild detractions but overall quite wearable, the faux fur has pile loss to about 2-3% of the fabric (primarily around the closure neck and waist and two at lower back skirt) that shows brown cotton backing underneath, a single 1/4-inch hole high at right front chest, the buttonholes inside are cotton sateen and they are repaired as the sateen is quite thin and had become threadbare in places, the velveteen lapel is likely a 1900s era addition, obvious lining loss at the interior wrists and neck not visible to outside, underside of faux fur has a sateen texture with obvious areas of this surface weave missing to the interior but not visible to outside, the front buttons are early plastic but not original, the back decorative buttons at waist are original antique silk

Washing Instructions
Dry clean by a cleaner experienced with antique clothing
