Original watercolor art by Alberto Rossi depicting a Venetian gondolier poling along a canal "street", in splendid colors and an Impressionist effect. Rossi (1858-1936) was an artist who focused often on Venice, Italy and produced stellar watercolors. We're estimating the age as 1920s - could be earlier or later.
This is original art - not a print or any sort of reproduction. It was purchased at auction in 1999. The frame was professionally finished by Michael's about 20 years ago. It's a dusky charcoal gray hue with fluting and Classical detail in a beautiful antique effect.
Condition is very fine with no flaws except the back has a rubber stop that was re-glued. Frame is 11 x 17 x 1/2 inches and the pencil-sketched edges of watercolor are 12 3/8 x 6 1/2 inches.
