30s Asian Tablecloth & Four Matching Napkins - 1920s 30s 40s Far East Square Dinner Linens - People Flying Kites Blue and White Cross Stitch

$ 32.50

This Asian square cotton tablecloth has four napkins to match, with hand-sewn cross stitch that creates a special series of dainty scenes, including a particular transport like a mikoshi (a Shinto litter) carried by eight people, and a line-up of charming people carrying banners or similar insignia.

The tablecloth has meticulous X-stitched seams in dark blue, with geometric medallions to the four corners. Matching four napkins have a single figure on each, carrying his banner over his shoulder.

This soft white cotton tablecloth is nearly square, 34.25 x 36 inches, and the napkins each measure 8.5 inches square. Condition is good with tiny brown specks here and there on the tablecloth, and an obvious 2 x 1-inch tan mark (probably a food stain) seen in seventh photo. This item has not been spotted.

Colors are white, pink, navy blue, mustard yellow, olive green, black. The age is a little undefined, likely 1930s or 40s, as many hand-embellished imports from the Far East were sold in the US during this time.
