Terrific 1930s work wear dress! This short sleeved rayon blend dress is a wonderful George Hess design, with a broad point lapel and trios of buttons at the oversized faux pocket flaps. It has a blouson bodice with pleats to the front waist, and a floaty flared A-line bias-cut skirt. It's neatly tailored with an invert pleat to the back bodice and utilitarian top-stitching, and a woven jute & leather belt. Mid 1930s to early 40s.

Lovely overall, has a scant pale gray scuff in a couple places, a 1/8-inch threadbare hint low at left front skirt, the top stitching at back vent of bodice looks intact but lifts slightly, the belt is not original but is vintage and has an additional notch punched in the leather to fit this dress, normal rubbing and nice patina to belt's leather, one of the hidden buttons at torso is a vintage replacement
Washing Instructions
Dry clean; or (omitting belt), warm hand wash, shape and dry until damp, press inside out on low-medium setting
